Installation PlusWe use our work boat in the slip to install the lift and when we are done, usually in 4 to 8 hours we use the lift to pick up the cradle and back the work boat out. When we put the customer’s boat on the lift if the bunks do not fit the boat properly we adjust the bunks and try again until we have the desired fit.

One option on our lifts are winter keepers or extensions which slide out from the bottom beams once the lift is above the dock and then sit the lift and boat on the dock for winter storage. They are not included in the base price since some boathouses have a post at the edge of the dock or the slip is double wide which precludes the use of keepers. The second option on cradle lifts is the addition of sideboards and belts. This option keeps tension on the cable and ensures it never gets in the water which keeps it from having to be replaced. Look closely at our photo gallery and in some pictures you will see the winter keepers on the bottom beams. You will also see the sideboards and belts. A third option is a remote.
Maintenance
Maintenance
The most likely item requiring maintenance over time is the 4 cables. If the lift is used as intended and not left in the water for extended periodsthe cables will last 15-20 years. However lifts left in the water all summer (we don’t know why you would do that) will need replacement within 3 years. If your cables are turning brown (rusting) where they sit in the water it is time to replace them. To avoid this we recommend sideboards and belts.
We also provide replacement cradles and components for competitor’s lifts which were not always built with heavy duty galvanized construction. For the handy person with the necessary tools and skills D.I.Y. kits are available, however unlike installing a ceiling fan it does require more than a screw driver and hammer.
